Christina Milian vs YMCMB
The rumour mill has been rife recently with news of R&B singer Christina Milian being signed by Lil Wayne to Young Money, and now that all rumours have been confirmed, the YMCMB signee unveils some new material. According to Milian herself, at a pre-Grammy party Lil Wayne unexpectedly announced the news while on stage. Speaking to Carson Daly on AMP radio, she explained how it all went down.
“This weekend we had a big YMCMB party, and Drake was performing and we were all up on the stage and Wayne got up there and he announced it himself. I was kind of surprised and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is awesome!’”
Milian will be joining the likes of Nicki Minaj, Drake and Tyga on the label, and although excited to get them to feature on the album, she also explains that much of the album was already done before the deal was even signed.

It’s That Dope Shit!

While we’ve been in freezing climates, surrounded by nothing but wind and snow, Asher Roth has been keeping all the rays of sunshine to himself, as seen in his new video for Dope Shit. The Aristotle directed video follows Roth around Hollywood, taking to the beach and the streets with a full band performing in the streets. The spontaneous looking video is the perfect accompaniment to the laid back, jazz infused vibes of the song, taken from his most recent mixtape Pabst & Jazz. Something tells me we’ll all appreciate this so much more when it comes to summer and we’ve stopped being jealous of all the sun where he is. “Dope” video, though.

Kanye West Takes The Emirates
With his 30 minute long Runaway video already under his Louis Vuitton belt, Kanye West is putting his directorial skills to the test again with another short film that will be shot in the Middle East. The New York Observer reports that Kanye has sent members of his creative team out to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha Qatar to meet with film companies to discuss a possible project together. It’s thought that all three cities are currently battling it out in a bidding war in order to win the rights to produce the film.
A source told The Observer, “In Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha all of the film initiatives are government controlled. There’s pretty intense rivalry here between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar. They all want to claim the film as their own and take credit for generating the publicity.”
And we all know that whenever Kanye’s involved there’s always bound to be tons of publicity, whether it be good or bad. That being said, it seems like Kanye’s determined to portray a more realistic portrayal of the Middle East – and not just the usual negative stereotypes.

No Longer Missing In Action

We told you this was gonna be a busy year for MIA, and now the much anticipated video for Bad Girls has dropped. The song I would say was more on the ‘Ok’ side of things, but this video has definitely just stepped up the game. Shot by Romain Gavras, the same guy responsible for Born Free, you see MIA in the middle of a desert, ghostriding a car and dancing with a bunch of hot hijabis. Getting that Arab money!

Hottie Of The Day: Bumper Edition

Well well well… David Beckham is pulling out all stops with his collaboration with mega high street brand H&M and I, for one, am not complaining. It seems Armani just didn’t get all they could out of the superstar footballer with their campaign, and H&M are pleasing ladies everywhere by flaunting that fit body at every opportunity. After releasing the promo pics and a short video for the bodywear range, Beckham finally took his sexy self down to London’s Regent St store for the officially unveiling of the collection. Long johns and thermals never looked so good.

Bad Girls Rock!

After a seemingly quiet 2011, M.I.A is getting 2012 off to a busy start with a new single from her fourth album Bad Girls along with the news of a video expected to drop this Friday.

The Danja produced single is an extended version of a track originally appearing on her Vicki Leekx mixtape from 2010, and with the hook chanting ‘Live fast, die young, bad girls do it well,’ M.I.A lets us know in the most unsubtle of ways that there’s more rebellion and controversy likely to head our way again.

The Return Of Mr Rager

Over the weekend Kid Cudi performed down under at Australia’s Heatwave Music Festival, and caused some commotion by breaking stage lights at the end of his set. After Cudi’s set was cut short due to the festival starting three hours late, meaning the rapper wasn’t able to perform some of his biggest hits, he decided to get back at the organisers by trashing the stage.

Last night, Cudi took to his Tumblr to defend his actions, and you really can’t be mad at the guy. Artists put together specific setlists, which usually entails a build up meaning their biggest hits are left until the very end. Cut that set short and what are you left with? Just the build up songs? Fuck that! Rage on Cudi.

"If my set is EVER cut short at any show, im trashing the stage. Not out of anger, it takes a lot to get me furious nowadays, but out of principle. The fans always deserve a full set at all shows, especially when they spend their hard earned money on expensive tickets. A lot of artist wouldnt do what I did in Australia, but I will. Spread the word. No matter the circumstance, cut my set short, im breaking shit. And next time im startin a riot. Me and my fans. Cause promoters will sometime take advantage of the artists, and u gotta let em know what time it is. Cutting nobody any slack."

The Bilson’s Back!

After hitting our screens on one of my fav shows, The OC, years ago, I’ve kind of missed having The Bilson in my life, and have had to make do with watching re-runs. Now, the actress/fashionista has hooked up with the guys over at Funny or Die for this hilarious rapping skit. I think you have to admit she’s a lot better than you thought she’d be, and DEFINITELY more believable than Natlie Portman rapping.
